The Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in Columbia, South Carolina features more than 2,000 animals and a splendid botanical garden. Exhibits at the zoo include African Plains, Lemur Island, Birdhouse and Riverbanks, Large Mammals, Australian Animals, Ndoki Forest, Riverbanks Conservation Outpost, and the Riverbanks Farm. Central to the Columbia, South Carolina zoo is the stunning 70-acre botanical garden with more than 4,000 species of flora. The zoo also safeguards several historical landmarks including important Civil War sites.
